Whiting Public Library Program - Mother Jones

The Whiting Public Library will present a program by Betsey Means on Saturday, June 8 starting at 2 pm. Betsey will impersonate Mother Jones. Jones was one of America’s most effective and dynamic labor organizers. In 1903, she marched striking mill children from Philadelphia to President Franklin Roosevelt’s home on Oyster Bay, Long Island. She wanted to draw the attention of the nation to the crime of child slavery. All are welcome to attend this very interesting presentation and refreshments will be served after the program.
